| Des éléments pour les différences (2 réponses sur Missing Lynx) Re: DML Hornisse and Nashorn differences? March 1 2003, 4:45 PM Unlike the difference between Ferdinand/Elefant, Hornisse/Nashorn did not have a decisive difference. In 1944 Feb., Hitler thought "Hornisse" was too wild so gave an order to change the name into "Nashorn" which he thought more tractable. So many old Hornisse became "Nashorn" even they kept old structures. If Hornisse was referred to early model while nashorn to standard model, then they have many differences. Hornisse had a gun lock but no radio in combat compartment (late Hornisse had radio in combat room). It was also featured with two bosch lights, an opening on gun shield for aiming appratus, lacking of a big reverse U ring behind the gun shield, regular muffler, and its gun travel lock differed from that of Nashorn. There are many other small detail differences. Nuts & Bolts is a good reference for the comparison. Jeremy Moore Hornisse vs. Nashorn January 8 2003, 10:55 PM According to Nuts & Bolts Vol. 14, there are few differences between the Hornisse and the Nashorn. In fact , the author goes as far as describing them as "early" and "standard/typical" configurations. To make things even more fun, there are numerous photos of vehicles with a mix of configurations - early drive sprockets, standard/typical gun travel locks, early exhaust, etc. As far as the marketing stuff goes, well, my explanation is quite simple. If you're like me you say, "Hmmm, I don't have THAT one!" Si Nuts and Bolts l'a écrit, je les croit ! |
